Our little travel champs! Kyran and Jariel's reality includes lots of suitcases and airports. We are glad they enjoy it all!
Fonte da Vida - "Fountain of Life" - Bible and Resources App
One thing we were excited to share with people is that the audio Bible app was launched in August and it already has over 13,000 downloads! It has created quite an impact in Mozambique, so much so that we are looking to add languages and resources to gradually reach the rest of Africa by the end of next year. Everyone who has seen it says it’s revolutionary, and the reviews of people who use it have been encouraging.
During our visit we were able to enlist the help of some other programmers so that we can go further, faster. We are still looking for more help with coding and content partnerships. Let us know if you're interested in joining this exciting project!
Bernardo and the Board Retreat
We have two wonderful Mozambicans who serve on our board of directors, and when we planned to have a board retreat during our time in the States it became clear that we should invite both of them to join us for it. Unfortunately one had some issues come up that prevented her from traveling, but Bernardo Magira was able to come, and what a blessing he was! His cultural insight was so necessary as we plan the future of the organization, to steer us in the right direction and have the greatest possible impact. He was also able to share the microphone with us at two of the churches where we spoke, and he clearly communicated the hope and opportunity he sees in Mozambique in a far more meaningful way than we could have.
"My faith grew! My hope and expectation for what is possible in Mozambique increased greatly."
We truly value the collective wisdom and experience represented by our amazing board of directors.
Kyran and Jariel enjoyed the trip greatly. They had a blast with everything from seeing family and old friends to remembering what parks and libraries are. It was particularly good for them to spend time with all four grandparents! Jariel had her 4th birthday in St. Louis while we were with Jon’s family, and we celebrated with a trip to the zoo. They were both traveling champs as we flew and drove all over and stayed in many different places.
That the Bible app is reaching so many people so effectively!
We are so thankful that Bernardo was able to join us in the States and that the opportunity expanded his vision for his ministry possibilities in Mozambique.
It's easy to forget how blessed we are with such travel warriors as children! Praise God they actually enjoy all the airplanes and car rides!
Please continue praying for peace and wisdom in some difficult situations we are facing.
Please pray for more ministry partnerships for getting resources on the Fonte da Vida app
Please pray for us to be able to form new partnerships with other churches and ministries around our city--we have a heart to see the Body of Christ working together and we want to exemplify that in Equip Mozambique as well.
Thanks for reading, please remember us in your prayers!
We just added some new people to the mailing list--welcome! If you would like to see the archives of all our past newsletters, go toequipmoz.blogspot.com
We had a great time showing Bernardo around--including a trip to the top of the
St. Louis Arch!
After 2 months of traveling around the States, the Reinagels have returned to Mozambique on the eve of our 2-year anniversary of our arrival in Beira! This will be one of two newsletters with some highlights from the trip.
We started off the trip in breath-taking Colorado with Carla’s family, who all drove or flew in from around the States and the world to all get together. It had been about 5 years since all of Carla’s siblings were in the same place, so that was special! Toward the end of our US visit we got to meet up with much of Jon’s extended family in Tennessee, and we had a good time playing games and connecting with them as well.
We were invited to speak at 4 churches that hold a special place in our hearts. It was exciting to be able to share in person what we’ve been up to and how people can partner with us, even from afar. The prayers and support from these churches and many individuals in them are what keep us going, and we are grateful for each one of them.
Sewing School Sales
We brought with us about 2 full suitcases of items the ladies of the sewing school had made, and had fabulous success with selling them! Proceeds from those sales all go to improving these women’s lives and growing the sewing program to impact even more women. A friend put us in contact with an antique mall in Rolla, Missouri, that offered to donate a display space as long as we can keep it stocked! We are thrilled to have at least one permanent presence in the States now, and the plan is to find more locations and move on to establishing an online store next to have a much wider reach.
As a side note, the fundraiser we launched earlier this year to expand the school finished out 100% funded, so a big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed or shared the need!
