Starting 2020 Strong

2019 - A Year of Challenges and Growth
This past year was one of adventures, challenges, and storms (literal and figurative), and we are definitely glad for the prayers and support of people like YOU who helped us enter 2020 full of hope and determination. We were overwhelmed at the outpouring of generosity from so many people last year, THANK YOU for being part of it all!

The cyclone/hurricane Idai in March 2019 was both an obstacle and an opportunity, and we are grateful for the safety of our team and the new partnerships that it forged. While that fateful March has long past from the rest of the world's memories, the marks of that storm still stare us in the face every day. The hospital finally got its new roof in January--after 9 months of exposure to sun and rain. Many other buildings STILL don't have roofs, many roads are STILL washed out, and many trees--if they survived at all--are still leaning heavily. It has been a year already, but it will take a while longer to fully recover.
A large church building that lost all the roofing tiles and had an entire side wall collapse--and has not yet been rebuilt
An apartment building that lost its roof and still only has a tarp to cover its residents
Sewing School Going Strong
We started the year with a huge order of our most challenging project to date-- 160 uniforms for Beira United, the new elementary school we helped start last year! It was a great opportunity to stretch our abilities and grow together, we had some graduates from each of our past terms join us and it was so much fun to be together again with them like family!
After we finished that job we welcomed in our 34 new students for our 7th term! Nora visited all of the applicants to assess their level of need, and her heart was absolutely broken by the stories she heard and the situations she saw. Elizabete was recently widowed and left with 7 kids whom she couldn't afford to send to school. Albertina is a 19-year-old orphan struggling to take care of 2 younger siblings. They are now part of our Restoring Hope family, and we look forward to watching their lives transform over the next few months, as so many others have before them!
Our teaching staff (front, kneeling) and all the new students are excited for what is in store for this year!
A Worthy Cause
If you ever wanted to be someone's hero, now is your chance!

Estrela has been a teaching assistant in our sewing school for 3 years, but due to her age and health she would like to work closer to home. She has long held the dream of starting her own sewing school close to her house, and we would like to see that dream become reality!

Would you consider contributing to Estrela's new sewing school?
